2023.12.22 - In de Bogaard: Preliminary Design (VO) submitted
In 1960, the first large indoor shopping centre in the Netherlands was built in the Bogaard. Now, the municipality of Rijswijk, in collaboration with residents, entrepreneurs and owners, is realising the ambition of a 'green, lively shopping and residential area'.
The Roofgarden, as the future eye-catcher and green entrance to the new city centre of Bogaard, is currently in the preparatory phase. With around 150 homes, ranging from industrial, urban lofts and patio houses to apartments in the Tower, it offers a surprising diversity for those looking for something special. The connecting factor between these different types of housing is the communal roof garden: a green place with shrubs, flowers and a green collar all around. Here, residents have the space to relax or engage in activities together with neighbours and friends. Above the lively, also green shopping area with cozy shops and terraces, The Roofgarden creates a green surprise. Along the inside of the passage, on the façade line of the first floor, a green wall will be realized. In this way, we contribute to the ambition of the municipality of Rijswijk to become the greenest city centre in the Netherlands.
The modifications to the current Prinsenpassage fit in seamlessly with the Master Plan for the future of Bogaard city centre. Implementing these changes does not require demolition of the current passage; The necessary adjustments are being made while the shops remain open. In this way, the Prinsenpassage will be transformed into a lively and green environment, where living, shopping and staying come together in harmony with the urban vision of Rijswijk.
