2024.01.30 - 7 concepts, developed in collaboration with Van Wonen, about new collective living environments as a contribute to actual social challenges are now published in the book: “Stapelen met collectieven”
Urban ensemble with a village character by stacking low-rise buildings on multiple ground levels. The concept combines a high urban density (200 homes per hectare) with the atmosphere of a village in a green, diverse and future-proof environment.
A reinterpretation of the single-family house, intensified by stacking residential units on top of each other on a small footprint. The skinny house is compact (four meters wide), adaptable, durable and built sustainably with prefab elements made of renewable materials that can be detached.
Roermondsplein in Arnhem is experienced as an infrastructural barrier. The need for more sustainable mobility leads to a different view of monofunctional areas. Intensifying the infrastructure with high-quality public space and new urban mixed use programs makes Roermondsplein a pleasant place that connects the existing city neighborhoods with a new sustainable high-rise city.
The Back Alley House is an intensification of the standard Vinex subdivision with single-family homes, characterized by a backyard with shed and an alley at the back. The back alley is transformed as the backbone of the community where there is room for multiple functions: living, working and recreation.
Greenery and nature experience are the core themes in the plan, which gives new meaning to a neighborhood where people, with and without care needs, live together in a green, high-quality and inclusive living environment
The Urban Residence concept is an innovative answer to loneliness among the elderly and the desire to live a healthy life. The residential building for seniors consists of stacked individual and collective housing units, which are adaptable to changing living conditions, in an attractive urban environment. The combination of public and semi-public facilities in the Urban Residence stimulates social interaction, movement and encounters.
