Located in southwest Germany, at the northern rim of the Black Forest, Pforzheim is known primarily for its jewelry and watch-making industry. As much as 83% of the city’s buildings were destroyed during air raids in World War II, and it was gradually rebuilt, making it now home to some landmark buildings of the 1950s. van Dongen-Koschuch’s planning structure and interventions aim to help the city with questions of identity, and revitalisation.
